So it’s fair to say that even though I loved this book overall, I was snoozing for the first chunk of the book until things started to get interesting about halfway through. Because even though I loooooved the sci-fi settings of these books, I loved seeing how Nemesis and Tyrus loved each other even in their complicated little bit of the universe. Which was a very confusing thing to want to see from the protagonists!! But an interesting twist to the plot none the less. Which presented one of the most problematic things about the plot in the fact that despite Tyrus tried to kill Nemesis at the end of the second book, you kiiiinda wanted to see them work through their issues. Even though Tyrus was clearly still mental. I mostly cared about Nemesis and Tyrus and how on earth Kincaid was going to fix the aftermath of the ending to The Empress. Even though in all honesty I couldn’t really remember much about who Neveni and Anguish were by this point but I managed to claw back some of my memories of them in the first two books as I read. It’s fair to say that I love love LOVED Kincaid’s characters.

How could Kincaid pull her characters back from that? I had to find out. Even though I’d pretty much forgotten most of the plot details by the time I picked up my copy of The Nemesis, I could still remember aaaaall about that ending of The Empress and what happened between Nemesis and Tyrus.
